Sam Hebden

'Linoland' is an ever expanding city. A single body of work comprised of disparate sculptural elements. A dystopian dictators playground, built on crumbling colonial foundations. A city of contradictions and misunderstandings which reflects the decay and exploitation of capitalism and empire. ‘Linoland’ was built as a personal narrative which reflects my experience of culture shock, returning to live in the UK after 12 years of working in Asia. The ever evolving city contains the tensions and misunderstandings between east and west. Buildings with surprises.
