Florence Dwyer

Florence Dwyer

Florence Dwyer's practice is rooted by embodied research into object making in different capacities; from industrial manufacturing to vernacular design and domestic craft.

Most recently Florence's work has taken the form of ceramic sculptures, porcelain perfume bottles, tufted woollen rugs and woven tapestries. These works often pay reference to both historical and recognised design objects, exploring the language embedded within their making and their encounters within current society. By de-constructing and experimenting with processes such as dyeing, slip trailing, tufting, glaze making, weaving and casting Florence hopes to use craft as a tool to draw on multiple histories and acknowledge the ways objects have been made and are still made.
