Allison Gibbs is the recipient of the 2014 exchange with Triangle France.The artist was shortlisted by a panel of artists and arts professionals in Glasgow before being selected by a reciprocal team in Marseille. Shortlisted artists this year were Philippe Murphy, Matthew Richardson, Ric Warren and Zoe Williams.

Allison will travel to Marseille in September for a three month residency. During this time she will have access to a studio, shared accommodation in Marseille and be provided with a 1000 euros production grant, as well as have logistical support including production, research and curatorial assistance.

Allison graduated with a Masters of Fine Art from The Glasgow School of Art in 2013, with an Erasmus exchange at The Piet Zwart Institute Rotterdam, NL. Working predominantly with 16mm film, video, writing and extra-sensory activity, Allison devises methodologies for working by translating things into
actions, nouns into verbs; like a constellation, a table or a psychic medium as a way of channeling and representing multiple points of philosophical,
anecdotal, historical and visual reference through her practice.

The radical potential of psychic practice, poly-vocality, transversal subjectivity and esoteric systems of knowledge reception and production form the basis of Allison’s current investigations.

Recent projects include Kelly, a collaborative exhibition with Jennifer Bailey, Tessa Lynch & Thorgerdur Olafsdottir for Glasgow International 2014, a residency at Rupert, Vilnius, Lithuania, the solo exhibition SPIRIT SHADOW SPECTRE BONES and PHANTOM at Intermedia, CCA Glasgow and Fall Scenes, 134 Renfrew St. In 2014 Allison was shortlisted for Lux/Glasgow International Film Festival Margaret Tait Award, she will publish an adaptation of the recent scripted film work Spirits of Ecstasy (Murnau’s Death Mask) for the next edition of The Happy Hypocrite- Heat Island (issue 7 spring 2014 edited by Isla Leaver-Yap) and present a new film in Let the Body Be Electric, Let There Be Whistleblowers, an exhibition with Joachim Koester and Ken Jacobs curated by Heidi Ballet and Anselm Franke at Dan Gunn Gallery, Berlin. Allison recently undertook a one month residency at Hospitalfield Arts, Arbroath, Scotland.
