Alex Impey
Alex Impey was awarded the 2011 Gordon Foundation MFA Graduate Fellowship.
Impey’s work spans across drawing, sculpture, sound and writing. He began his fellowship in November 2011, with an exhibition at Glasgow Sculpture Studios at the end of 2012
Born in Stockport UK in 1981, Impey has a BA from The Slade School of Fine Art in London. Recent works are Span in 2HB volume 9, CCA Glasgow and Cleave til Cloven Victor and Hester, Glasgow.
The 2011 selection panel included Claire Barclay (GSS Studio Holder & Artist Member), Jenny Brownrigg (The Glasgow School of Art Exhibitions Director), David MacAllister (Artist & GSS Technician), Jenny Richards (Collective Gallery Programme Manager), Baldvin Ringsted (GSS Artist Member) and Amy Sales (GSS Programme Development Manager).
Jenny Brownrigg said ‘The panel was impressed by Alex’s interaction with the site of the Glue Factory and his thoughtful and intriguing engagement with materials. The GSS Fellowship provides a platform and investment that matches the potential of process and production that Alex demonstrates in his Degree show work.’
